The Murlocs Feeling the Love, Get Right Nasty on "Step and Stagger" @TheMurlocs
I confess: I fell in love with The Murlocs after stumbling across this cut while posting country songs based on my World of Warcraft experiences. Look, man, I a technician. Anyhow, with the current bonanza of garage rock that seems to be saturating the Terran airwaves it is some times hard to pick out exactly what frequency you might tune into to. I will gladly suggest that you check out this Australian quintet for some low down, nasty, harmonica laden grooves.

Blooming Act gives off great vibes in the Boot Stomping "Faded Tattoos" @BloomingAct
Blooming Act may initially sound like a lot of things, but with their aggressive guitars, boot stomp rhythms and dusty road lyrics this would be like saying that the Horse Head Nebula was just like the Hour Glass nebula. I recant. Blooming Act ECHOES a lot of things; most importantly they echo good song crafting that brings about tunes that twist and turn and punch and hammer their way into your love struck hearts. Rock is not Dead.

A Brief History of Guitar's Big Bang Part 4
Mr Richard Daniels recently visited 433Eros and discussed the more esoteric, evolutionary pivot points of the guitar. It was a sweeping review of the instrument that eschews the lampooning of popular artists of our past and present in favor of examining the "Big Bang" of the instrument's development. This interaction has been transcribed and will be made available in several parts over the course of the weeks to come. Put down the Zep records and dial up the guitar background radiation detector! We continue the discussion of musical theory and how it applies to the evolution of the guitar. Richard Daniels is a frequent visitor to 433Eros. We always enjoy our time together watching the universe slide by.

R.D. The vision of the people that made the instruments in 1780 did not go “past” carved wood contours shaking, or the architecture of holding a singing string onto one box… Their envisioned goal was accomplished once the sound wave came out of the wooden sound hole… The prism that they “looked through” involved how efficiently they can transfer the physical energy of the singing string to the wooden box of the instrument. They lived for that only. That, and of course, violin greatness and grail attainment. Like it or not, the guitar has melted into the computer age… defining the new world… leaving its acoustic youth behind.

Cozy Catastrophes' EP "Way Last June" Provides Tragic Pop for Star-crossed Love @februaryrec
Darlings, at the end of a decade maybe you look back on the things that have touched your heart or maybe you just reflect on where it all just- just got kind of got messy. I think of my experiments with butch hair-stylings, purple lip gloss (which I STILL think is hot) and... really a host of other things that I will self censor. Why do I bring these things up now? Well. I'm glad you're asking. Cozy Catastrophes "Way Last June" smacks of wistful thought. Its recurring message, encaspuled within an exceptionally organic electronic package, is: 'I'm sorry for what I didn't do" or, as an old partner once said to me: "He has a face like somebody stole his lollipop, but he just don't care."

Slow Down Molasses' "Summer Sun" proves to be perfect for a hallway stroll.
Darlings, for some reason I felt like hitting a few of the low-side clubs tonight dressed as one of my precious droogs. Though "Summer Sun" would hardly SEEM to be anthemic vis a vis a trip to St. Korova's or to B-Side Low-Side, it does somehow elicit in ME images of sidewalks and steel. I just love it. I can image hearing the sound of pretty high heels click-click-clicking their way down an empty low-side corridor en route to my adventure for the night.

"DaDaDa" by Bo Ningen sounds the alarm, provides pep, j-rocks, j-rolls. @BoNingenUk
Good people, the rum flowed freely last night. I was NOT expecting London based Bo Ningen, to hit me upside the head like this before I was barely awake and ready to report for first shift, but it did. Absolutely put some pep in my step, did a lot of things really. Rolled along quite nicely then suddenly wrapped up in nice J-punk fashion. Excelsior.

Wizards Tell Lies waxes ruefully, weaves a woeful tale on "Spyridean Mechanism Ritual" @ForestofDark #ShaggothFTW
It was good advice to be wary of these spell casters. It would seem that Wizards Tell Lies has a knack for expressing dark folly. Within their compositions always lay things that threaten. Like watercolor paintings done only in black and white. These pale faced riders are not Goth, but the battlements atop the structures that they build teem with horned beings and leering, cold faces.

Mayan Calendar Girls. Those boot stomping vixens. Damn them all. Those pretty eyes.. full of mushroom dreams. 2012 is just a number. On my wall. On a bar napkin that I just retrieved from my left pocket. 'Be as one' they intoned... although I can't remember the day, their names, what I was drinking or where we were speaking. Frowning Clouds? Yes, I'm a stone.

Darlings, I am no expert when it comes charting the tides or the ides, but when it comes to signals... boy, when it comes to signals, I know when there's a waning or waxing moon; I can feel a waxing or waning moon. If I were to take a walk or if I were to take a moonlight drive, perhaps, when alone, I would put this one on repeat.

@Ummagma's Kiev Re-Mixes is AOK, Offers Variety & Is Full of Unique, Well Conceived Production.
Hello, Darlings and good evening. I, like many of my contemporaries, look slightly askance at something with remix in its title. Trying to improve on a good thing is not always such a groovy idea. I can recall many times when a remix desperately over thinks itself.
There are several examples of when it all gets FUBAR or just IDKWTFYTYADBIB (I-dont-know-what-the-fuck-you-think-your-are-doing-but-It-Blows,) but In the case of Ummagma's Kiev Remixes, it's AOK. I will be frank., many of the re-imagined versions of Ummagma's already well constructed 'Kiev' are crafted by some heavy hitters. As per station policy, I won't name drop, but talent and pedigree abound. What makes an effort like this appealing to an observer like myself is the variety of genres represented. The Tracks range from nu-disco, chill lounge to break beat opuses and many have groovable qualities that would appeal to much of the club set. As we of 433Eros fail never to over turn any stone, I've personally noted that The Haioka remix is particularly soothing; blossoming into a zenith bending crescendo, while sticking more to its shoegaze roots. Sounds of Sputnik's remix follows a similar tract, managing to avoid the trap of the sometimes wallflower-ish shoegazer idiom by dipping a toe into the more active confines of a late night chill-out beat.

Orange Yellow Red "Time Slows Down" @orangeyellowred @StMarieRecords
I was lacing up a new pair of shoes the other day, which is uncommon for me as I generally prefer strappy sandals or other more revealing styles. Alas, these fetish facts have nothing to do with "Times Slows Down" except that it was at this moment that this song came on my hi-fi unit. It was before breakfast and I'd not had my usual cup of honey'd green tea. I found myself listening.... time did slow.

Who (Back) on Earth is Making Those CREEPY Sounds? (Part 2)
I will readily admit that the first part of my report became hopelessly mired in the mysterious origin and purpose of megalithic ritual chant. (I warned you) So, in a continued effort to further peel back the layers of the wonderfully eerie sounds of "The Children of the Stones"
"The Last Fine Day of My Life" is Twisted, but Hopeful @family_basik @rimakato_ @WhitePaddyMount
We are all in need of something to get us through the day some times. Besides coffee, tea, tang or stress pills, there's always an outfit like Family Basik to help hoist the sails of hope and productivity- but is this cut hopeful, twisted or hopelessly twisted? I'm not sure, but I do believe it is the sound of virtual bells attached to the tips of my shoes that you might be hearing from around the next bulkhead.

It is not easy to be away from the sun sets and sun rises that bracket the usual planetary day. Even I am a mere vessel of Diana. Thusly, there exist some cycles where I grieve the abscence of sparrow song and cicadda buzz. Darlings, this means not that on these days my penchant for high heels and red lipstick wanes, it simply means that I must turn to composers like Mr Nakamura to remind me of my home on the river.

Rocket Ships and Rocking Chairs 14
Episode 14 finds the staff of 433Eros being slowly surrounded by the fascinating forces of celestial darkness. It's not as if we feel threatened, but we, in our orbit here, have received signals of a somewhat malevolent origin. This isn't to say that there are not plenty of rays of sunshine that reach us. I am only saying that we have been touched by tentacles that may not have humanity's best interests in mind.
In the words of Mr. Spok:
"Fascinating is a word I use for the unexpected, in this case I would think interesting would suffice.”

R.D: So the history of rock guitar opened the floodgates past the classical model. For instance, classical violinists of history would not consider the wild harmonic overtones, being played with a whammy bar by Joe Satriani or Steve Vai, or Van Halen, or Stevie Ray... The reality is that the "new electric" is sensitive PAST THE ACOUSTIC INSTRUMENT... That is all I am saying... I have several acoustic guitars and even a classic nylon string. I know what the acoustic instrument can do at its finest output. I personally discovered that the real dynamics of the nylon stringed "Spanish Guitar" is in its delicacy. Something it takes a rock player a few days to see completely... The electric guitar is the powered up version of the acoustic guitars considerations, except the electric seems to have many more faces than the acoustic-- what I see is that those new faces were caused by the electronic input to the signal from the pickups... -- both guitars models depend on the string shaking- but the electric does not need air or wood... it works on the creation of electricity by the sting itself......
E.D: It Brings to mind an old horror movie poster.. so... in the vacuum of space can anybody hear you play electric guitar?

Lovers, When in Amsterdam Do As the Dutch Do: Luiz Henrique Yudo - "Bedroom"
In my perverted list of priorities, the bedroom is rivaled only by oxygen and bath tub, but that would be a missive of another type altogether. What IS it that the Dutch do , anyhow? I jest. Clearly the Dutch's penchant for composition is not fettered by ANY means. Yudo's piece is introspective. Cliche aside, nicely done.

Newly Released "Whitewood" EP by 'Barely' @Pete_Reisner Forces the Issue, Compels Technician to Break Station Rules
I desperately try to avoid the statements "sounds like" or "reminds me of" when assessing data streams because I think it can often imply a lack of originality on the parts of both the artist and the tech assigned to study a particular signal, but because Barley's "Whitewood EP " does SO take me back to Pond's early 90's work on Sub Pop, I must, at the very least, allude to it. There. Many astronomers, scientists and great chefs alike have all simply stumbled across great discoveries. Though I do not qualify as great in any of the aforementioned fields, I have certainly stumbled across one of my favorites of 2014. This EP is heavy, melodic, avoids the current indie cliches dutifully and, as previously indicated in this sentence, has enough discordance and grime to hold one's attention. Nice job, Pete.

@Meerenai Spreads Her Digital Wings in "Flight of the Bleeper Bird: Obviously I was Abducted by Paper Aliens"
Hello. When one thinks of the theory of the Big Bang, it is interesting to consider its philosophical ramifications. Aside from the creation vs science, there is an almost universal application of the concept of beauty emerging from chaos. In the beginning there was "nothing" and then, like a cosmic orgasm full of dust and bits and chunks of white hot matter, emerges form. Yes, darlings, pleasure and pain, form from chaos, beauty from bleakness. Meerenai Shim takes sterile 8 bit tones and weaves them into a web of golden flute creating lush compositions. Obviously She was abducted by paper aliens.

@apostroph1c's FLA is a Eulogy That Reflects Upon Things That Sometimes Can't Be Spoken
Darlings, the muse can be something that is as fleeting as a shooting star or as universal as the atom. In his sophomore effort, Apostrophic finds a muse that I'm sure that many can relate to on some level. Marriage, birth and death have a way of often bringing us all together. It is in one of these moments that the idea for FLA (EFF EL AY) germinated:
"FLA was inspired by a confluence of elements, primarily stirred by the passing of my father and a long overdue family reunion. the album is a meditation and celebration of the people we love, the passage of time and the fragility of life."
It is the goal of this artist to "create something that unfolds like a film or a dream in the listener's mind... to evoke a personal narrative." Apostrophic certainly has a way with words. Structurally, FLA is fairly straight forward; not many twists and turns to speak of and no really true sonic surprises lurking behind the curtain.
FLA's electronic, danceable tone is bolstered by electric guitar work and often lays in a bed of ambient washes that create a contemplative tone that I wish could be more in the forefront of the album's infrastructure. As it were, like in '41todun', this ambient preface gives way to an IDMish groove that bounces away into the night- still pensive, but uptempo. Apostrophic's finest work occurs on 'Sunrise' With a ping ponging rhythm, 'Sunrise' is anthemic and hopeful, evoking the image of a man in mourning as he watches the sun rise through a pane of glass.
'Sunset', the counterpart to Sunrise, does a nice job of putting FLA to bed, making use of the post-rock aesthetic, some nicely applied beats and droning keyboards to help turn off the lights.
FLA appears to be a very personal piece. Given the inspiration, this would be a somewhat obvious statement, but it's an important one.
